One Sleepless Night

One night, I couldn’t sleep. I put on my jacket, took my keys and left home. Fifteen minutes turned into an hour, and a walk turned into a stop. A stop ended up being the local park.

I lay down on the ground, where the grass was still wet. I dug my nails into the soil, played idle as I waited for sleep.

It was past the din of midnight, that my girlfriend came. Her breath turned to moisture, and it breathed – warm – against my neck.

She couldn’t sleep either, so we lay pressed together, until the sky turned blue.
